This Shield Nickel was struck on a bronze planchet that the U.S. Mint intended to use for the production of Indian Cents. It is an extremely rare off-metal with 5 known examples.

It is the finest known, authenticated and certified by NGC as Gem Mint State 65 Brown. It is the plate coin in chapter 29 of my NLG Award winning book, World's Greatest Mint Errors.
