1893-O $10 Liberty Gold
Broadstruck out of the Collar

Unique from the New Orleans Mint
PCGS AU 58
SOLD

slab

All gold errors are very scarce. This $10 Liberty is completely broadstruck out of the collar. Since this Gold planchet was not seated in the collar when it was struck, there is no reeding and it also expanded in diameter.

There are only a few known Major Mint Errors on U.S. Gold Coins above the $2½ denomination. Mint Errors from the New Orleans Branch Mint are also extremely rare on Gold and Silver Coins. Although there are four other $10 Liberty broadstruck gold pieces known, this is the only one from the 19th Century and the only one from the New Orleans Mint.

This piece would be the highlight of a U.S. Gold collection, a Major Mint Error Collection, or a collection of Gold from the New Orleans Mint.
