1972-D Ike Dollar
Reverse Struck Thru Capped Die

NGC MS 66

slabblankSlab

When this planchet entered the collar, there was a reverse die cap that had formed over the reverse die. The reverse received the impression through the reverse die cap, instead of from the reverse die.

Although this type of error is not rare on lower denominations, it is rare on Eisenhower Dollars. It is in gem mint state condition and is a great example of a large size Dollar that was struck through a reverse die cap.
