Rare Maryland State Quarter Struck on 51% Clipped Fragment
There are many clips, off-center clips and ellipticals, but struck fragments (missing 51% or more by weight) on the State Quarter series are rare.
This 2000 Maryland State Quarter was struck on scrap from the end of the planchet strip, weighing only 49% of the weight of a quarter planchet. Very nicely centered showing Washington's portrait on the obverse and the Maryland State Capital on the reverse.
